Enterprise Java Architect/Lead

Job Description

The successful candidate will be a technical leader who can coach and mentor others to a higher level. Candidate must have strong communication, analytic and problem solving skills – the ability to see simple solutions to complex problems. Java developer / senior developer / architect with knowledge of Spring and modern web development (HTML5, Javascript, CSS) and REST based service oriented architecture backed by a domain model (DDD).

Employ existing architectural stack and collaborate with the rest of the Enterprise to evolve it.
Review and approve technical designs to maintain integrity of the Enterprise architectural stack.
Participate in complete software development lifecycle, from requirements through testing.
Coach and mentor other team members (regardless of role – developer, tester, or product manager) on appropriate use of technology to address customer and business needs.
Develop and evolve practices for development (e.g., unit test strategies, build and deployment)
As needed, evaluate new technologies and develop Proof of Concepts
Other duties as required to support and meet the needs of Corporation

Required Education and Training

BS or MS in Computer Science, MIS, etc…
Technical leadership experience and maturity.
Demonstrated architectural responsibility of shipping software product.
Experience with some or all of the following:
- Serverside: (most important)
  - Java (nice to have: knowledge of applets -> a technology we are moving away from)
  - Spring
  - Tooling: IntelliJ (preferred), Eclipse, Netbeans
  Clientside: (preferred)
  - HTML4 & HTML5
  - CSS2 & CSS3
  - JQuery
  - Backbone.js (MVC)
  - Misc: Underscore.js, JqueryTemplate.js..
  - Tools: Firebug, Webkit Developer tools (Chrome/Safari)
Preference is for technical / architectural maturity over experience with the given technologies.
DB2 / AS400 / Power series experience and understanding a plus as the application will be backed by DB2 / AS400 / Power series.
