Intel Engineer II
This position is located within the following department: Information Technology
Job Description
This Intel Engineer position will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations and health of the Windows Servers and related systems. This position will also provide installation, administration and support for customer installed solutions.
- Travel to HMS client site to install and configure servers and peripheral devices
- Educate and train clients as part of the implementation process
- Assist with architecting/implementing/administering hosted solutions for customers.
- Provides direct technical support for the coordination, programming, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to the Windows server environment and the range of products and productivity tools that support production and test environments relating to Windows Server computing
- Develops, deploys and maintains hardware and software configurations which comprise high availability environments including Windows, VMware ESX, IIS, and Terminal Services/Citrix, Exchange, Office Communication Server, SQL Clustering, and storage sub-systems.
- Conducts performance tuning analysis, capacity planning, workload modeling, and forecasting.
- Maintaining the integrity of system backups and an understanding of DR strategies
- Assist in the developing, maintain and implementing security standards
- Performs complex troubleshooting, backup, archiving, and disaster recovery.
- Recommends purchase of products or services necessary to support the production and test operating environments.
- Ensure internal systems are patched and maintained within in proper operating standards
- Percentage of travel required 70%
Required Education & Training
- 4+ years of Windows Server engineering experience in a production-quality distributed environment.
- Ability to perform typical advanced server and network administration to include: upgrades and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, LAN/WAN, DNS, TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP and storage support functions
- High level of proficiency with server hardware, virtualization software and concepts, mail, Windows server operating systems.
- Proficiency with some or all of the following: Microsoft Exchange 2003+, SQL Server 2000+, Windows Clustering, VMWare ESX or other virtualization technology, Terminal Services and or Citrix Presentation Server 4.0+, Office Communication Server & SMS
- Related certifications a plus (Microsoft, Citrix, etc…)
- Must be willing to learn new tasks, and cross train as needed
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as projects may dictate
- Ability to communicate with users outside your team on a non technical level and translate their needs into workable solutions.
- Provide after hours support as needed.
- Ability to work with non-technical staff over the phone in seeking resolution to problems and setups.
- Must display the ability to be a team player and work well with employees at all levels both internal and external to the department
- Good interpersonal skills that include the ability to effectively communicate in both writing and verbally.
- Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to demonstrate supportive relationships with peers, clients, partners, and corporate executives.
- Must be flexible with a “can do” attitude and have the ability to remain professional under high pressure situations.
- Ability to retain and protect confidential material.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
