Intel Engineer III
This position is located within the following department: Information Technology
Job Description
This Intel Systems position will be responsible for day to day operations and health of the Windows environment and related systems. This position will also oversee and architect solutions, manage projects and provide leadership to all Windows related initiatives.
- Responsible for leading members of the Intel team and others from within the department as their work is relevant to current projects under the responsibility of this position.
- Travel to HMS client site to install and configure servers and peripheral devices
- Educate and train clients as part of the implementation process
- Architect hosted solutions for customers.
- Support Helpdesk, Level I, II, III engineers
- Help direct and develop strategy as it relates to the Intel platform
- Responsible for mentoring members of the team.
- Ensure SLA’s are being meet by members of the team
- Responsible for managing costs and timelines of projects.
- Point of contact and in some cases project manager for all Infrastructure deliverables that occur within a strategic or business project.
- This person will also be responsible for managing and coordinating infrastructure solutions and work performed by system engineers as well as work closely with team to fit solutions with business requirements.
- Manages day-to-day operations of the Intel systems
- Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.
- Oversees and reviews quality assurance procedures.
- Designs detailed configurations of operating systems and layered products including, device management and user environment management. Includes system installation, configuration, upgrades, layered product installation, and management.
- Conducts performance tuning analysis, capacity planning, workload modeling, and forecasting.
- Performs complex troubleshooting.
- Architect backup routines, archiving, and disaster recovery.
- Recommends purchase of products or services necessary to support the production and test operating environments.
Required Education & Training
- Experience leading a team
- Experience in project planning and management.
- Proven track record of success with large projects, architecting and leadership
- Demonstrates a strong comprehension and practical knowledge of multiple technologies that make an enterprise data center environment.
- 5+ years of Windows Server engineering experience in a production-quality distributed environment.
- Ability to perform typical advanced server and network administration to include upgrades and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, LAN/WAN, DNS, TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, SAN, NAS and storage support functions
- Proficiency with some or all of the following: Microsoft Exchange 2003+, SQL Server 2000+, Windows Clustering, VMWare ESX or other virtualization technology, Terminal Services & Citrix Presentation Server 4.0+, Office Communication Server & SMS
- Must be willing to learn new tasks, and cross train as needed
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as projects may dictate
- Ability to communicate with users outside your team on a non technical level and translate their needs into workable solutions.
- Provide after hours support as needed.
- Ability to work with non-technical staff over the phone in seeking resolution to problems and setups.
- Must display the ability to be a team player and work well with employees at all levels both internal and external to the department
- Good interpersonal skills that include the ability to effectively communicate in both writing and verbally.
- Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to demonstrate supportive relationships with peers, clients, partners, and corporate executives
- Must be flexible with a “can do” attitude and have the ability to remain professional under high pressure situations.
- Ability to retain and protect confidential material.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
