Transcription

HMS Transcription allows users to interface Microsoft Word documents with Results Reporting so that those documents can be viewed in Order Communications, Clinical View and HIM. Transcription is linked to patient orders via fields in the Order Communications Transcription file. In addition, the Result Department file in Results Reporting has a field that allows users to flag a department to allow transcription.

Features & Benefits
Transcription gives the ability to document a note and put it into the HMS system in order to view, print, or sign. When users select an order to transcribe, they enter a security code and identify the dictating physician. When the document is completed, it is stored/archived on the HIS system for access in various areas.

Each transcribed document has a preliminary status until it is verified via eSignature by the dictating physician. In the end, this solution allows facility-wide access to the transcribed document with the proper security.

Key features

  • Auto populates data template with crucial patient demographic information: Helps eliminate user error and saves time in the documentation process.
  • Ability to customize templates: Each facility can create its own unique documents.
  • Ability to view/print the document: Allows quick turnaround of documentation for patient care utilizing Print Monitor, which gives them the ability to print and view in rich text format.
  • Ability to fax utilizing FaxStar: Ability to fax in rich text format.
  • Integration with Clinical View: Physicians able to view, edit and electronically sign their documents and create addendums; clinical staff able to view important reports/document results.
  • eSignature capabilities: Allows a faster turnaround time for completing documents. The physician may sign onto Clinical View, pull the document, view, edit and electronically sign, and it may then immediately be moved through the process of autofaxing and autoprinting.
  • Auto printing/faxing: The fax provider file allows printing by hospital service code, status, and physician with lots of flexibility.
  • Counter signature capabilities: When a physician is unavailable, on vacation, for example, he may delegate another physician to sign a document for him. This prevents deficiencies and authenticated reporting from being delayed.

Quotes
“I still have a full day, but I spend more time on patient care and on functioning as a radiologist as opposed to waiting on things, going and finding something myself or waiting on someone else to find it for me.”
